Preparing For A Flood

Greetings all, Steve here today. We’ve been having a lot of flood problems in British Columbia, with several communities in danger and a number of people under evacuation notice, so I was interested to read about how the town of Hinton, New South Wales, Australia is handling their flooding problems.
The town has been cut off from the outside world, effectively becoming an island besieged by nature. The occupants of the town didn’t evacuate, but when they realized they were going to be cut off from the outside world for an extended period they did what all people in such a situation should do, namely took stock of supplies to see what they needed most urgently.
They took stock of all of their vital supplies and discovered that they were in serious danger of running out of beer, just as a critical rugby match between new South Wales and Queensland was about to come on t.v. The people of Hinton communicated their distress to the government, who acted quickly and delivered 12 kegs and three crates of beer to the town by boat, along with a number of other less critical supplies. According to the BBC World Service, “everyone has been having a great time at the pub just catching up.”
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the way to ride out a crisis.
