Crimes Against…
Henry here. It seems to me that we used to know what crimes were. People stole things, broke into private places, held up banks, etc. Those things all seemed to be fairly straightforward. Now things, at least for me, are confusing. CBC reports that three MP’s on a visit to Lebanon criticized Canadian Prime Minister for condoning “crimes against humanity.” I have nothing but the vaguest idea of who was right in the latest conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, but some things are terrible to hear about let alone suffer.
Three MP’s who visited Lebanon were confronted with a terrible situation.
“They met residents who had lost their family in the Israeli airstrikes last month, and offered their condolences to the Shalhoub family, which included most of the 29 Qana victims”.
I cannot imagine loosing 29 members of your family. What a terrible catastrophe. This is another example, as I have been saying recently, of what C.G. Jung called the “shadow”. In this case, I would think that there is ample evidence that the shadow of both countries was very present and likely running the show. All people and countries have a shadow which can get us involved in the most terrible situations.
So our countries shadow can certainly involve our countries in “Crimes.”
