You May Have Already Won
You are Rich!
According to two emails today and two yesterday that I inherited, I have won or can be in the receipt of incredible amounts of money, millions and millions of dollars. I have begun to wonder if those people know something that I don’t. When I get those notices, I delete them immediately, but I have begun to wonder what would happen if I did actually win an obscene amount of money and just deleted the email. That would not be a pretty picture.
The other thing I wonder is if those people who run these scams know something about me that I would not admit to most people. Do they know that in my heart of hearts I would love to get my hands on $150,000,000 or even $5,000,000 or even $100,000 or perhaps even $1,000, just because I think such a windfall would make life easier?
Are these things written by some evil genius or are they just written by a bunch of crooks? I come strongly down on the latter theory but I have begun to wonder why they persist so. Are there that many people who are taken in by such a bundle of lies?
No doubt we all have part of us that would revel in receiving a huge fortune, or even a little one. Such a promise feeds our fantasy of power, influence and freedom. I keep reminding myself that these people are quite dangerous, according to a country wide hot line set up to debunk these scams. Several people who have responded to these emails have ended up dead, and many have ended up poorer.
But they have struck a cord. We would all like to have a bundle. How do you respond to these invitations to riches?
